John Paré
After proudly serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II, John Paré began a long legal career. He spent many years as an attorney for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, but his commitment to the law extended beyond his day job.
John is remembered for his dedication to helping those in need, which led to his extensive involvement with Bay Area Legal Services for multiple decades. John served on our Board of Directors, including as Chairman, and was also a member of our Development Council. He generously contributed many hours of pro bono service, earning a 13th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Award.
John and his wife, Carol, both steadfast supporters of legal aid, donated substantial philanthropic support over the years. Today, their legacy continues through our every day work creating pathways to justice for low-income individuals.
John Paré was a good man. I worked with John, a volunteer par excellence, for almost 30 years. His generosity, his pro bono legal work and his leadership greatly benefitted Bay Area Legal Services and its clients."
