Innovation in Legal Aid

In 2026, Bay Area Legal launched one of the first AI-powered legal assistants in the US built by a nonprofit legal aid organization.

Bailey B. - a free tool designed to help tenants navigate landlord-tenant issues under FL law - has gained attention as an innovative way to make legal information more accessible to people in our community.

We’re excited to share that this new addition to our services has been recognized by Tampa Bay Inno as a 2026 Innovation Awards Honoree.

"From healthcare and AI to nonprofit services, cybersecurity and consumer products, the latest class of Tampa Bay Inno honorees are finding new ways to solve problems, create opportunities and drive economic growth," Anjelica Rubin, Technology and Tampa Bay Inno reporter for the Tampa Bay Business Journal stated.

As the access-to-justice crisis grows, we must find new, innovative ways to serve more people with limited resources—helping guide low-income and vulnerable communities from legal problems to actionable solutions.”

David Gray, LawDroid Director of Business & Strategy and former Business Innovation Manager at Bay Area Legal

Nominations were evaluated by an internal judging panel, with honorees selected based on accomplishments, demonstrated results, growth, and innovative approaches to addressing challenges.

"The group includes high-growth startups on the rise, established companies embracing new technologies and advocates helping strengthen a vast regional ecosystem," she shared.

The Inno Awards event will be held November 19 at the Embarc Collective.
