Business Innovation Manager (Full-Time)

Bay Area Legal Services (BALS) is seeking to fill a full-time Business Innovation Manager role.
This role will be responsible for utilizing process improvement and project management methodologies to identify and implement process improvement opportunities companywide. Oversee improvement projects, ensuring the most efficient workflows that align with company growth and initiatives enhancing the firm's ability to deliver high-quality, efficient legal services by leveraging innovation, technology, process improvements, and innovative legal solutions. This role will bridge the gap between system application needs and business processes, collaborating with various teams to optimize workflows and improve efficiency throughout the company. This role provides solutions that enhance the client experience and expand services.

This position is hybrid, 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
Illustrative Duties:
Process Improvement (Legal Operations)
- Identify and deliver process improvement initiatives company-wide through the revision of business processes to deliver efficiencies.
- Develop and document ‘current state’ and ‘future state’ process maps using agreed upon process mapping standards and tools. Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes, systems, and project progress to ensure clarity, continuity, and standard operating procedures.
- Deliver training on process improvement and technology tools to staff, enhance collaboration, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct diagnosis of agreed upon/assigned business processes and operations, document and present recommendations, and provide detailed assessment of cost, benefits and risks
- Collaborate with all aspects of the business to identify and implement workflow optimization strategies.
Project Management
- Provide end-to-end project management. Ensure projects meet deadlines, budgets, and goals
- Define project objectives, define project scope and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with executive management
- Lead and manage projects related to operations and system improvements, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Establish effective project communication plan and ensure project expectations are communicated to team members in a timely and clear fashion
- Coordinate staff and internal resources
- Manage relationships with stakeholders and vendors
Legal Program Initiatives
- Develop and implement legal content initiatives and technology solutions to increase access to justice, empowering self-represented litigants and communities with legal information, action plans, and guided document assembly services.
- Participate in special projects as assigned
- Cover for other staff members as needed
- Oversee all FosterPower business functions, project management, grants administration and compliance, business partnerships, and replication in Florida through completion of the TIG project.
Web & Content
- Ultimate responsibility for firm’s websites, content, document automation, and digital assets.
- Manage and maintain Company website, keeping content current and technology up to date by providing management with necessary information to budget and facilitate technology needed for upgrades etc.
Supervision
- Recruit, hire, and supervise assigned staff.
- Ensure direct reports are supported and given tools/resources to efficiently perform their job duties.
- Position requires travel between multiple offices occasionally.
- Travel to annual conferences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field/or at least 7 years of equivalent project/program management experience to replace the degree.
- 3-5 years in a similar role leading projects/process improvement
- Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills
- Demonstrated experience in building and cultivating effective partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders from idea to delivery
- Detailed understanding of project management disciplines and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean tools)
- Demonstrated experience in self-motivating, self-directed value-driven working style with the ability to partner with business teams to improve their processes and process knowledge
- Knowledge of business requirements gathering, analysis, and process mapping techniques
- Ability to confidently interface with all levels of staff including executives, managers, and staff; in addition to board members, contractors, volunteers, and other outside parties

Desirable Qualifications:
- 7+ years in a similar role leading projects/process improvement
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization or law firm.
- Master’s Degree preferred, MBA or other Master’s degree in related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Lean Six Sigma (LSSBB) Certification
Compensation/Benefits:
- Starting salary is $87,410.00/yr. (increases based on relevant experience).
- Reimbursement for travel expenses for work events (mileage etc.)
- Bay Area offers a comprehensive benefit package including a 4% match for the 403b retirement plan with immediate vesting as well as Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability coverage and more.
- Bay Area also offers generous time off and work life balance with 13 paid holidays and three (3) weeks’ vacation for the 1st year of employment and a 37.5 hour work week.
