Bay Area Legal Receives $50,000 Lightning Community Hero Donation

Mark Wolfson names Bay Area Legal Services as the sole recipient of his $50,000 award as a 2026 Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero.

Lightning Community Hero Mark Wolfson

Mark Wolfson was recognized as a 2026 Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero during the team's October 17 game in Tampa, where it was announced that he had designated the entirety of his $50,000 award to Bay Area Legal's Richard C. Woltmann Endowment.

Since 2015, Mark has volunteered his time and expertise through Bay Area Legal's Volunteer Lawyers Program, contributing approximately 1,000 hours of pro bono service. His work in guardianship advocacy has helped 45 families navigate complex legal matters and plan for the future.

That’s how every lawyer should treat a pro bono client. No different from their million-dollar client. The same empathy, the same respect, and the same consideration.”

Mark Wolfson

Mark is a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP Tampa, where he has practiced commercial litigation and bankruptcy for more 40 years, and helped foster a culture of service within his firm through his mentorship of newer attorneys and as chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.

In 2026, Mark was also honored by the Bar’s Business Law Section as recipient of its 2026 Pro Bono Award, which recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to pro bono service and to expanding access to justice for those in need.

Bay Area Legal Services is incredibly grateful for Mark's generosity, dedication to our clients, and commitment to creating pathways to safety, security, health, and justice.
