Annual Holiday Party
On Saturday, December 14, 2019, the L. David Shear Children's Law Center of Bay Area Legal Services held its Annual Holiday Party!
There were 186 people in attendance this year at the party's new location: the Gardenville Recreation Center in Gibsonton, Florida.
The children had a wonderful time jumping in the bounce house and getting their faces painted by two very talented professional face painters from J&J Faces who look forward to this event every year. Volunteer DJ, Mijail Friedman, entertained everyone with holiday and popular music. Former clients and their families gave back this year by helping us with a holiday ornaments craft table. The children really enjoyed making their holiday cards, holiday globes, Santa and snowman cotton ball faces, penguins, and other sparkly holiday creations.
With the generous support of our community partners, each family received a $75 gift card to Walmart; and every client received a holiday gift, coupons for free Happy Meals donated by Caspers Company (McDonald's), and a small stuffed toy that included either a Santa, gingerbread man, elf, penguin, or snowman. Not surprising, most children picked Santa.
Speaking of Santa, Robert Tager reprised his role as Santa Clause and spent quality time with all the children. One of our clients even asked his mom if Santa (Robert) is the real Santa, and Robert heard him and quickly replied, "Oh yes, I am the real Santa, and I can hear everything."
Volunteer photographers/friends of the Children's Law Center, Adiana Ayes and Siva Beharry, helped capture all of our special memories. Some of the pictures from our 2019 Annual Holiday Party are below.
Due to Taylor Greenberg's fellowship representing teens, more teens were in attendance. They received a special gift that included a Corkcicle water bottle, basketball/football, headphones, makeup, blanket, and more. At least 100 gifts were shipped to us by our friends and family through an Amazon wish list created by Anny and Taylor for our clients.
Each family entered into a raffle for a chance to win donated tickets to ZooTampa at Lowry Park, The Florida Aquarium, Glazer Children's Museum, MOSI, Tampa Bay Rays, and a $25 gift card for Winn-Dixie. Food vendors Mr. Empanada, Miguel's Mexican Seafood & Grill, Winn-Dixie, and Wright's Gourmet House also donated delicious food, including Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, taquitos, and cake. With donations from J.P. LaCasse, Dick Woltmann, and Amy Jones, we were able to provide the children and their families with pizza and chicken nuggets.
Also, we would like to thank the following donors for helping us make this holiday season extra special: Morgan & Morgan, Lucy Mangar, Susan Benson, Becky Egizi, Keith & Elizabeth Fendrick, Dr. Eric Tirnauer, Marty Lawyer, Heather Tager, Neil & Carol Sivyer, Rande Friedman, Michelle Krischlunas, Dorothea Lee, Yvette Chapman, Jonathan Hackworth, Frank & Gina Miranda, Dr. Deborah White, Jeanne T.
