Legal Internships

Bay Area Legal Services is seeking passionate and motivated interns to join our team and gain hands-on experience in public interest law.

Interns and Law Clerks will work alongside experienced attorneys and legal professionals, assisting with casework, research, client interactions, and community outreach. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in social justice and legal advocacy.

Bay Area Legal Services is a nonprofit legal aid organization dedicated to providing access to justice for underserved communities. We offer free and low-cost legal services in areas such as family law, landlord-tenant, senior advocacy, veterans, and more, advocating for those who may not otherwise have legal representation.

Internship Program

A 10-week summer opportunity for law students to assist our attorneys with departmental projects and objectives. Interns will be placed with teams and supervised throughout their time.

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a law school, pre-law program, or related field.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Passion for social justice and serving marginalized communities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual skills (a plus, but not required).

Learning Objectives

  • Gain practical experience in legal research and writing.
  • Develop client interaction and case management skills.
  • Learn about the legal issues affecting low-income and marginalized populations.
  • Understand the role of legal aid and pro bono services.
  • Enhance professional development through mentorship and networking.
