When can I start receiving Medicare benefits?

  • The first day of the month you turn 65, so long as you apply three months before turning 65
  • If you're under 65 and you have a disability, after you get disability benefits from Social Security for 24 months
  • If you have ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
  • If you have End-Stage Renal Disease
